Mission Statement:
Floyd County Search and Rescue, based out of Charles City, Iowa, is a nonprofit, volunteer organization with a membership of highly trained and dedicated personnel providing emergency response services to the citizens and visitors of Floyd County and the surrounding area. Floyd County Search and Rescue is uniquely qualified in multiple rescue disciplines with a focus on rendering aid to persons in distress, minimizing loss of life and property damage and serving the community with professionalism, all with an utmost concern for safety.

Saturday, February 28 – FCSAR was dispatched to a structure fire in the 1400 block of Underwood Ave. Colwell Fire Department requested mutual aid from Floyd Fire Department. Charles City Fire Department had RIT. FCSAR members on scene included M. Parcher, R, Bornstein, S. Kincannon, C. Bruns, J. Kincannon, A. Murray, D. Murray and T. Hobert. Other FCSAR members on scene with their fire departments were J. Webster (CCFD), L. Lee (FFD) and T. Tresch (CFD).
Friday, February 27 – Charles City Police Department requested assistance from FCSAR for a situation in a residential area. CCPD attempted to make contact with a subject allegedly involved in an assault and after several hours, police made entry and took the subject into custody. Three FCSAR members assisted by providing MERV and the command trailer. Iowa State Patrol and Floyd County Sheriff's Office were also on scene.
February 17, 2009 - Four members of FCSAR attended Ground Search Management training in Carpenter, Iowa, today. The training was hosted by Ray Huftalin, Emergency Management Coordinator for Worth and Mitchell Counties and was instructed by Jim Peters, President of STAR 1 Search and Rescue out of Story County, Iowa. FCSAR members in attendance were Russ Bornstein, Dave Bahe, Allen Murray and Lynette Lee.
January 21, 2009 – Charles City Fire was alerted to a fire at a welding shop in Charles City. Upon arrival fire crews found a fire in the roof area near the chimney of the wood burner. CCFD requested Floyd Fire for help and Floyd County Search and Rescue was sent to the scene. Rescue members responding were D. Murray, M. Cross and A. Murray. Other FCSAR members on scene with Charles City Fire were D. Bahe, C, Bahlmann, R. Bornstein, D. Cross and M. Parcher, and C. Bruns was on crew 2 with AMR Ambulance.
Sunday, January 18 – The fire departments from Floyd and Charles City were put on standby for a possible problem at the local bio-refinery. FCSAR members R. Bornstein and A. Murray responded with the Multi-Emergency Rescue Vehicle. After a check of the plant, MERV and CCFD were released and returned to quarters.
Thursday, January 15 – FCSAR was dispatched to a house fire north of Charles City. Firefighters from at least eight departments help battle the blaze in approximately 20 degrees below zero weather. FCSAR members assisted the fire departments at the scene along with supplying air, hot chocolate and rehab. Responding FCSAR members were R. Bornstein, J. Kincannon, M. Cross, A. Murray and D. Murray. Other FCSAR members were on scene as firefighters with their departments, including C. Bruns, M. Parcher, L. Staudt and T. Tresch. Other agencies on scene included the fire departments from Floyd, Charles City, Rudd, Nashua, Alta Vista, New Hampton, Colwell and others, as well as AMR Ambulance and Floyd County Sheriff's Department.
Sunday, January 11 - Floyd County Search and Rescue was asked to assist the City of Marble Rock and the Marble Rock Fire Department in checking the damn for possible erosion caused by recent flooding. This was a great opportunity to get a few members in Mustang Ice Commander suites and deploy the RDC. Rescue members participating were M. Parcher, R. Bornstein, C. Bruns, A. Murray, B. Duncan, and D. Murray.
Saturday, January 10 - Charles City Fire and FCSAR responded to an afternoon garage fire on S. Iowa St. in Charles City. Rescue members A. Murray and D. Murray assisted at the scene while AMR Ambulance provided rehab.
Friday, January 9 – FCSAR was paged for motor vehicle rollover with injuries at 205mm on Hwy 27. Members responding with MERV were C. Shultz, A. Murray, and D. Murray. Floyd County Sheriff's Office canceled SAR.
FCSAR was paged for another motor vehicle rollover with injuries unknown near Rudd on Hwy 27. Members responding with MERV were A. Murray and D. Murray. Floyd County Sheriff's Office canceled SAR.
Thursday, January 8 - FCSAR was paged to structure fire at a hog confinement on 150th Street near Rudd. Members R. Bornstein and A. Murray responded. Upon FCSAR's arrival, fire crews had already extinguished most of the flames. FCSAR returned to the station at 1445. Other agencies on scene: Rudd Fire, Nora Springs Fire, Rockford Fire, Charles City Fire (RIT), AMR Ambulance.
